SILBERWAREFABRIK ALEXANDER STURM, Vienna

Alexander Sturm was born in Vienna in 1851 and has been a silversmith since 1882. A year later he opened his own shop. From 1926, an artist from the Wiener Werkstätte also worked for the company, which had its own design studio, where the artist made their designs for silver production. After the war, Adalbert Sturm revived the factory and design drawings by Otto Prutscher and Josef Hoffmann are included in the factory inventory. In the early 2000s, Christa Berghaus Fölster (1950-2013) saved the company and continued it. She bought machines, tools and punches, as well as the extensive company archive, to preserve and revive the old Viennese silversmith tradition.
